2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs Game 7 live updates: Oilers face Kings to close out massive NHL first round Saturday

The two most beautiful words in sports? Game 7. Luckily for hockey fans, Saturday will be filled with more excitement than the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs The first round will see three Game 7s on the same day.

The Los Angeles Kings and Edmonton Oilers close out the night at 10 pm ET face-off on ESPN and fuboTV (trial free). There were explosions and close games in both arenas, but the main trend was that the team that scored first walked away with the win. Edmonton made Game 7 possible with a 4-2 win on Thursday. Evander Kane scored two goals in that game, and will likely continue to be key for the Oilers offense going forward. The left wing registered seven goals in this series, linking him with Minnesota’s Kirill Kaprizov and Pittsburgh’s Jake Guentzel for the NHL lead in the playoffs this year.

Boston and Carolina opened the action Saturday at PNC Arena, and like the first six games of the series, the home team won. The Hurricanes punched their ticket to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs with a 3-2 win over the Bruins. Max Domi led the way for Carolina with three points, including two goals in the second period. The Hurricanes have now won six straight Game 7 and will next play the winner of the Rangers-Penguin series, which ends Sunday in another Game 7.

Lightning’s dream of a Stanley Cup three pitches is alive and well. Left winger Nicholas Paul scored twice for the Bolts in the first two periods – not a bad way to register his first two career goals in the postseason. There were no points the third period but still saw a lot of action. Toronto left the net empty with about two minutes left in the game, but their return attempt failed. Brayden Point didn’t see any minutes in the final period due to a lower body injury. The Maple Leafs had 31 goal shots but struggled to score due to a solid performance by goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy. Their lone goal was scored by Morgan Reilly with a 13:25 mark in the second period.
