LA Law ABC’s lack of progress was one of the surprises of this pilot season.
ABC boss Craig Erwich told Deadline that “unfortunately the pilot didn’t go along as we expected.”

The reboot, headlined by Blair Underwood, who is repeating his role as lawyer Jonathan Rollins, has a high bar that hit many expectations. The original series Corbin Bernsen also repeated his role as Arnie Becker in the pilot along with King Nef, Toks Olagundoye, Ian Duff, John Harlan Kim and Juliana Harkavey, and Kacey Rohl.
The pilot was written by Marc Guggenheim and Ubah Mohamed and directed by Anthony Hemingway.
It followed McKenzie Brackman’s law firm – now renamed Becker Rollins – as it transformed itself as a litigation firm specializing only in the highest profile, border pushing and arson cases.
Underwood, Guggenheim and Mohamed executive produced with Hemingway by Anthony Hemingway Productions and Dayna Bochco and Jesse Bochco by Steven Bochco Productions. 20th Television is the studio and has now bought the project from other outlets.
Another project that has passed is the half -hour comedy Joseph star comedian Jo Koy.
The comedy is built around Koy playing a character based on herself, as a recently divorced Filipino American nurse trying to navigate dating, fatherhood and a Filipino mother to love ” will help. ”
Steve Joe, Randall Park and Michael Golamco are the writer-executive producers. Josep is also exec produced by Melvin Mar, who was the project driver, Kourtney Kang, Jake Kasdan, Hieu Ho, Koy and his manager Joe Meloche. 20th TV is the studio.
The network, however, is still looking to stay in business with Koy. Erwich called him an “incredible comedian”. “We don’t know yet what the next steps are, but we’ll get to that next week when we get back. [from New York Upfronts]. ”
Elsewhere, the Disney-owned network still has four to five drama pilots in production, including Trent, The Company You Keep starring Milo Ventimiglia, a national park series and a therapy drama from Kay Oyegun as well The Son of the Law comedy starring Chris Harrison. Erwich said these projects will be considered for the midseason.
