In a must -win situation, Delaney Young homered and Torri Chute had two run doubles to lead the Vikings to victory. As the two intensified the offense, Ashley Mickschl was in cruise control of the circle, throwing two hits to complete the game giving it a run.
In the lower half of the second, Delaney Young sent a line-drive home run over the left-field fence for an early 1-0 lead. That home run broke the school’s record for most team home runs in a season as it was the 95th of the year.
The Bronchos ended the game 1-1 in the top of the third as Mikayla Rutland reached base after being hit on a pitch and Shayla Harper tripled.
However, that was the only offense UCO could get from Mickschl as he waited to run away from his team. That came in the fifth inning when Mary Pardo and Liz Dierks had back-to-back singles. Chute then doubled to left center scoring on two baserunners for a 3-1 lead.
Mickschl and the Vikings defense did the rest as he threw all seven innings, giving up two hits and two moves while scoring two for his 24th win in 2022.

Like the clash between the two squads on Friday, it’s one that leads to more innings. The home Bronchos would win one in the middle to score the runner from third base, ending Augustana’s season.
Augustana got an early 1-0 lead over the top of the first as Liz Dierks crossed the home plate via a UCO second baseman error. However, that more quickly came back even under the first when the Bronchos tried a run across the plate.
On top of the second, Mary Pardo answered with a single in the middle of Amanda Dickmeyer’s point from third base. The Vikings ’2-1 record would remain until the fourth inning when the Bronchos were once again fed up, this time at 2-2.
Central Oklahoma forced the Vikings into the sixth inning with a run-scoring double as the home team led 3-2.
By the end of it at the top of the seventh, Augustana tied the game at three to extend the season. Kennedy Buckman hit a sharp single into center field that scored Bergen Lindner from second base. Lindner ran for Delaney Young who reached base on a single.
Tied at three, both squads went into more innings for the second consecutive day. After the Vikings ’offense couldn’t push a run across the top-half in the eighth, Central Oklahoma threatened and eventually won the singles.
Augustana had 12 hits including three from Mary Pardo and two from Buckman and Abbie Lund. Amber Elliott and Ashley Mickschl held the UCO offense to seven hits while Elliott had five innings and Mickschl 2.2 innings.
