Chapel Hill ISD launches telehealth pilot program with Goodside Health

TYLER, Texas (KLTV) – Chapel Hill High School and junior high have introduced a new health system called Goodside Health, a Teladoc program now available to school nurses to better help treat their students.
Nurses were provided with an iPad and necessary equipment to conduct a one-on-one doctor visit with the nurse and the student.
The parent will be able to attend the session virtually or confirm treatment options over the phone. This is a way to care for students without having to have parents lose their jobs or the student lose school.
“As a nurse I can’t prescribe, but because they can find a doctor’s assistant or a doctor or a nurse practitioner they can go through me. The way I look at things for them and they can take that and say ‘oh, ok I think I see what the problem is we prescribe it.’ and parents can just take it home and the kids are taken care of, ”said junior high nurse Jonna Martin.
Chapel High School Nurse Patricia Mitchell says they will now be able to test and treat diseases like pink eye, do strep testing, and flu testing.
The program is currently being tested at Chapel Hill High school and junior high before it is implemented in other Chapel Hill schools.
The maximum that students will pay is $ 50 depending on the treatment.
