Consortium invests in company behind eco-friendly aerosol technology

North Yorkshire-based Salford Valve Company Ltd (Salvalco) has confirmed the latest round of investment, raising a total of £ 2.5m.

Funds were raised from a consortium of six companies including Beiersdorf, Foresight Williams Technology, AWI Ltd, Fin.Esse SpA, Growthdeck Ltd and Green Angel Syndicate (GAS).

Salvalco, founded in 2013 and based in Escrick, out of York, is responsible for creating an eco-friendly aerosol technology-Eco-Valve.

The valve uses environmentally friendly nitrogen as its propellant rather than butane, which is a contributor to global warming.

Eco-Valve allows for the reduction of carbon footprint and the use of harmful pollutants. Brands like NIVEA are already using this technology for their products. Last year, NIVEA produced the first deodorant range using the Eco-Valve: NIVEA ECODEO.

The valve, protected by eight global patents, has become a popular alternative to traditional valves and helps support consumers ’need for more environmentally friendly options.

The latest funds will be used to expand the manufacturing capacity of the Salvalco plant in Thailand. It will also invest in R&D operations and to further develop its patent portfolio.

Ina Zant-Boer, CEO of Growthdeck, said: “Considering the current volatility in the market it is remarkable to see Salvalco managing to raise this money quickly. The over-subscription is a sure sign. to trust Salvalco and suggests that many are optimistic about the company’s future.

“Salvalco’s pioneering eco-friendly technology has already seen great success and we look forward to seeing the company continue to grow.

“Key players across the industry recognize the benefits of Salvalco’s technology. That’s a major endorsement and a strong indication of where the business is headed.

Peter Shaw, managing director of Salvalco, added: “We are pleased to have secured additional funding from a large consortium of companies.

“Collaboration plays an important part in helping the next phase of our growth journey as we see the demand for Eco-Valve continue to rise.

“In addition, the partnership also demonstrates a strong shared commitment to supporting the environment as well.”
