DePauw University faculty has approved four new academic programs as part of the university’s academic renewal goal in the DePauw Bold & Gold 2027 strategic plan.

Majors in Business Analytics and Finance are made, as are a minor in Entrepreneurship and a major and a minor in Film and Media Arts.

Students can begin enrolling new mayors and minors in the fall. Finally, new business-related programs, along with existing programs, will be part of DePauw’s School of Business and Leadership, which will launch in the fall of 2023. the new Creative School will be launched in the fall of 2024 .

“Faculty members are involved in developing the strategic plan that calls for a new School of Business and Leadership, and now the faculty in general is approving programs that will make that school a reality,” he said. said President Lori S. White. “I appreciate the interdisciplinary collaboration of faculty members from a variety of disciplines in developing these new exciting programs that will strengthen DePauw’s academic offerings and solidify DePauw as a the premier university of the 21st century. “

In addition to these new programs, the School of Business and Leadership will offer majors in Actuarial Science and Economics and minors in Business Administration, Accounting and Finance for Decision-Making, Economics and International Business.

Business Analytics: This interdisciplinary field draws on a variety of perspectives and skills, including statistical analysis, computer-based models, information technology, ethical reasoning and business operations. Students majoring in business analytics will learn how to support decision makers using data, information and prediction about the possible outcome of the choices they face.

fees: Students majoring in Finance will gain an understanding of finance through interdisciplinary approach, drawing in statistics, economics, mathematics, accounting and more. They will learn to be understanding and thoughtful about the effects of their decisions or the effects on the institutions they represent.

Entrepreneurship: Students who have completed a minor in Entrepreneurship – regardless of their major – will be equipped with the basic knowledge and skills to start and operate a start -up / small business. People from different backgrounds are starting businesses, so entrepreneurship is an interdisciplinary field and this new minor will add to any major.

Film and Media Arts: This program will educate students by exposing them to artistic creativity and collaboration and to the critical study of film, television and new media. Like its introduction, Film Studies, this program is interdisciplinary, with faculty and courses from a variety of disciplines.
