With the 2021-22 NBA regular season already on the books, the basketball betting market is hotter than ever. CBS Sports will provide daily selection of postseason duration. Sam Quinn will make at least one choice every game between now and the NBA Finals. All lines courtesy of Caesars Sportsbook.

Selected Game | The Boston Celtics against the Milwaukee Bucks

The Celtics scored 48 points in the paint in Game 4. That’s not a huge number by NBA standards… but it followed a total of 20, 24 and 32 in the first three games. One of the most interesting tactical battles fought in this series took place between Al Horford and Brook Lopez. The Bucks built a defense around keeping Lopez tied on the edge, giving up 3’s to boost his strength as a rim protector. They kept those principles strong for almost four games… but finally conced in the fourth quarter of Game 4 as Horford continued to make the 3’s given to him. He scored nine 3’s in two games on these teams that recently played in Milwaukee. He only made 89 throughout the regular season. Al Horford is not usually Dirk Nowitzki. Milwaukee’s defensive game plan allows him to look like this for a few nights, but Lopez is expected to have more respect for Horford’s jumper in Game 5. Boston will make those points in the paint, but as bettors, this creates an opportunity to shorten Horford’s shooting heat. Selected: Horford under 2.5 3’s.

Selected Game | Memphis Grizzlies vs. Golden State Warriors

We played under Game 4 and won quickly. It was a safe game considering how well Memphis defended without Ja Morant all year and how poorly they scored without him in all the playoffs. Well, Vegas got it and cut a lot of points on the line. So let’s pivot a bit here to a clincher in the Golden State. It is, in fact, a choice based more on emotion than hard evidence. The Grizzlies have been strong all year, but Game 4 was their chance to stand out. They can’t get another shooting night poor from the Warriors, and Golden State smells of blood on a trip to the Western Conference Finals on the line. Expect the veterans to take care of the business in Game 5 as the youngsters will learn a lesson that will serve them well in next year’s rematch. Selected: Warriors -4
