Small Business Administration helps storm victims

MONTAGUE, Texas (KAUZ) – Home and business owners who have suffered damage from hurricanes that hit north Texas have received little help.

Chief Photojournalist Joseph Saint has a lot more from the Small Business Administration.

The Small Business Administration is in Montague to help locals in need of financial assistance after a series of disasters have hit north Texas over the past few months.

“It has damaged most of our homeowners, our tenants, so we want them to know that we have a program for them,” said Yolanda Stokes, PIO of the SBA Office of Disaster Assistance.

Stokes wants everyone to know the programs that are available after a natural disaster.

“We don’t abandon tenants,” Stokes said. “We have a program for renters as well, up to $ 40,000 to replace their interior or their car if it breaks down.”

The SBA provides low interest risk loans for homeowners and even tenants. Up to $ 200,000 for your primary residence and another $ 40,000 for your interior. But it’s not just homeowners who can benefit from this program. As the name implies, the SBA also provides assistance to local businesses.

“And of course, we have a business lending program for businesses that suffer any kind of structural damage or businesses that just need working capital to help them,” Stokes said.

For anyone interested in a disaster loan, just stop by the third floor of the Montague County Courthouse Monday through Thursday, 8 am to 5 pm

“Well, no necessary appointments, just go and meet us,” Stokes said. “We help you complete the application, just answer your questions and continue the process of how to apply for an SBA disaster loan.”
