Starbucks says it will now offer employees enrolled in the health care plan reimbursement for qualifying travel expenses if they have access to abortion or gender confirmation procedures, if the services are not available within 100 miles of a worker’s home.

The Seattle-based coffee chain said Monday that the benefit will also apply to dependents of employees enrolled in health care coverage.

Many companies are detailing their abortion care benefits after a draft Supreme Court opinion was leaked that would abolish a national right to abortion.

“Regardless of the Supreme Court’s decision, we will always ensure that our partners have access to quality health care,” Sara Kelly, Starbucks acting executive vice president of partner resources, wrote in a letter.

Last year more than 60 companies signed a letter in response to a Texas law banning abortions after nearly six weeks of pregnancy, forcing some women to travel outside of state to access the method. Among others, the maker of the said Levi Strauss & Co., the online review site Yelp, banking giant Citigroup and ride-hailing company Lyft have promised to pay for the travel costs of employees who have to travel long distances. to access abortion.
