The main event of New England fashion week will include the popular SEED Student Design Challenge as well as fashions by four talented local designers.
Fashion is one of the best ways to express a person’s personality, mood or even creativity. And luckily for Rhode Island fashionistas, StyleWeek Northeast returns to Ocean State on Thursday, June 16, 2022.
StyleWeek Northeast, or SWNE, was founded in 2009 and to this day remains New England’s premier fashion week held in Rhode Island. Inspired by the world design scene, SWNE is a week dedicated to showcasing emerging fashion designers within professional runway settings that will remind those you see at major events in urban fashion around the world. The encouragement of the arts should be reflected within the designs while bringing an economic impact to the state of Rhode Island. SWNE showcases more than 200 designers from across the U.S. and even Canada and is one of the region’s fashion weeks visited by the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), a New York -based organization recognized by state leaders and national publications.
SWNE has partnered with universities, high schools and elementary schools to promote young talent and emerging student fashion designers through the SEED Student Design Challenge. Over the years, SWNE has had participants from Mass Art, Parsons School of Design, Rhode Island School of Design, Johnson and Wales, FIT and many more schools from surrounding areas. This style week is dedicated not only to fashion, but also to the growth of designers as artists. SWNE has a mission to be recognized as a business activity that will spark an economic glimmer in Rhode Island. Not your typical fashion week, fashion only makes up about 15 percent of what SWNE does. It also provides branding, public relations and marketing to everyone involved in its activities – all considered VIP.
SWNE’s micro fashion event will take place on June 16, 2022, at the Capital Grille in Providence. Doors open at 5:30 pm with a cocktail hour followed by the SEED Student Design Challenge at 6:30 pm The main part of the show will begin at 7:30 pm and showcase the works of local designers Alexandra Renee Bianchi, Anna Lemley, Tatyana Ayriyan and Zoe Grinfeld. Yyou can buy a ticket in advance HERE beginning May 15. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Festival Ballet of Providence in an effort to protect the arts.
