SARASOTA, Fla. – The No. 2 Cardinal was in charge of business at the 2022 NCAA Championships Saturday, recording the highest finish in each of his AB semifinals appearances to secure spots in all three Grand Final races on Sunday. With Saturday’s wins, Stanford became the only team left in the Division 1 NCAA Women’s Rowing Championships to win all of its races in Sarasota.

Stanford started the morning with a from behind win in the varsity eight race. Acting after being left in the first 1000 meters of the race, the Cardinal attacked No. 5 Princeton and No. 6 Washington to take the team’s first win in Saturday’s races.

The Cardinal’s second varsity eight team didn’t allow a time delay that pulled the ship from the start line to prevent their goals, earning the race’s top finish in a time of 6: 26.132 after leading the final three quarters. in the 2000 meter competition. Stanford’s varsity four closed out the already successful day with a win, recording the fastest time in all semifinals in just over a second.

Stanford is now focusing attention on Sunday’s Grand Final races. Each race not only determines the individual national boat championship, but lists the racing teams that aim for the NCAA team’s overall title. The program with the highest point overall at the end of the regatta brought an NCAA title to their respective campuses.
