Tennessee makes history by winning SEC Tournament in dominant fashion

Tennessee continued its dominant game and ended an impressive performance in Hoover, Alabama on Sunday with an 8-5 win over SEC Tournament-winning Florida.

The No. 1 team, which never dominated the tournament, played on their hype to keep the event going.

Vols became the first program to win SEC basketball tournament and baseball tournament titles in the same season. Yet this Tennessee team makes it on the hill, and on the plate, a recipe it uses all the time. As the shutout ended in the eighth inning, Tennessee (53-7) bounced back after it fell late last year, 7-2, to Arkansas.

UT won its fourth SEC Tournament title in program history, and the first since 1995, the same year UT last won the regular-season championship.

The Vols dealt with their injury in a 4-run 5th inning and 3-run 6th inning. The Gators added 3 runs in the 8th and nitacked 2 runs in the 9th, thanks to back-to-back doubles.

Tennessee’s Seth Stephenson had a very good day at the plate, as he was 3-for-5 with doubles, 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Drew Gilbert added 3 RBIs in a 2-for-5 outing with a home run complete with an impressive bat flip, and a double that eliminated bases in the 5th.
