The Ocean Community Chamber of Commerce HONORS Reverend Cal Lord at Central Baptist Church as his 2022 Citizen of the Year. Jewett City Savings Bank recently announced grants provided by the Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation for Kevin Merchant, former President and CEO, and Louis J. Demicco, Jr., former Chairman of the Board. A grant of $ 3,000 was given to the Slater Library, $ 1,250 was donated by the Jewett City Fire Department and the Griswold High School Athletic Department received a donation of $ 750. Donations of $ 1,000 were made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Shriners Hospital for Children, and the Connecticut Humane Society. Three grants of $ 500 were provided by the Quinebaug Valley Community College Foundation, Project PIN, and Griswold PRIDE. In addition, two donations of $ 250 were made to Northeast Opportunities for Wellness and the Living Faith United Methodist Church Community Café. In response to a special request, the Slater Library was given an additional $ 5,000 from the foundation for the restoration of the windows on the third floor of the historic library building.
