WV to roll out red carpet to bring in business

CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – We’re used to seeing the red carpet at movie premieres, but later this year the leaders will launch the red carpet in hopes of bringing business to the West Virginia Regional Technology Park to stay.
Monday, May 16, the Charleston Area Alliance asked Kanawha County commissioners for $ 97,000 to help fund the event.
Officials say the concept is to bring business executives and site consultants on a tour with a focus on the tech park. They want to bring potential tenants to the park.
“A company, a company that is located here that has more than, let’s say, to cover the tax dollars that are passed on. We also take advantage of West Virginia,” said Matt Ballard of the Charleston Area Alliance. “There is. one West Virginian who works for the Life Science Association of the United States and another who works in pharmacists. So, we ask West Virginia residents to look at their membership in these companies across the United States to identify someone who might be looking to expand over the next three to five years, and then encourage they to attend.
Officials are hoping for about 15 businesses for the tour, which includes a trip to New River Gorge’s newest national park.
